As Christmas Day, 2010 is nearing & will soon be gone, let's take time to slow down our hectic schedules, remember what & who are truly important to us, read the story of Jesus' birth from the Bible to our children -- lest they get caught up on how much their gifts cost or if their friends have more than they do & lose sight of what's the real meaning of Christmas should be!
It's a lot of fun to have presents under our Christmas trees & the beautiful lights twinkling! But, what I look forward to even more is the feeling of love that surrounds us this time of year! We know, historically, that Christmas Day is only the date we set aside to celebrate Jesus' birth & also know that all the events portrayed in the Christmas plays & pageants didn't actually occur the very night of His birth. However, since we have honored this date as His birth, it has helped to keep the celebration from becoming a totally commercialized holiday -- where everything's centered around Jolly Ole St. Nick & how large or numerous are the packages under the tree this year!
If we can just remember to give love 1st & teach our children about a Man who paid the ultimate price of unconditional love for us all -- then, we can enjoy a blessed Christmas surrounded by family & friends & hearts that are filled to overflowing with love!
As I look at the faces of my family & friends so dear to my heart this blessed Christmas season & see the smiles on each of their faces, I will have the present I prayed for -- the beautiful Gift of Love!
